IDS asked to carry out a design and construct for a $100 million retail park project as they didn’t think the security was specified in the plans correctly. After delivering a successful proposal, they asked us to deliver an installation based on our design.
On assessment of drawings IDS noted that CCTV was under-specified (only 4 cameras) and the access control was over specified. In addition, the Electricians on-site were supposed to run cables for security but they were quoting an unreasonable amount and builder wasn’t confident they had the expertise to run it to a complex security design, 10 days before the walls were constructed they asked IDS for help.
After an in-depth assessment IDS concluded that the site needed 47 CCTV cameras for full coverage, for both insurance and public safety concerns. IDS were able to greatly reduce the cost of Access Control and deliver a system with no gaps for a nominal increase in budget, compared to the overall
project cost.
IDS also submitted a far more economical quote for cabling, and won the work off of the Electrician and got IDS’s cabling team in before the walls went in to help the client out. IDS have been asked to look after the site’s electronic security needs on-going by providing a comprehensive preventative
care package.
